Tarquin Russell Terriers

Our Russell Terriers are homebred, raised in our home with loving and experienced hands.

The official standard for the Russell Terrier calls for “ an alert, lively, active and keen Terrier with a very intelligent expression. Their intensity for life is one of their most endearing traits . They are playful, curious, loyal and affectionate.”
Over the years of breeding, our utmost goal is to breed dogs that not only replicate the blue print of the breed standard for physical traits but temperament as well. Russells are extraordinary companions. They are a large dog in a small white package. They are game for everything their new owners want . They are incredibly loyal and devoted . Wherever you are they want to be with you. Easy to train , which we recommend beginning at an early age, they excel in obedience ,agility, ball playing, walking or a snuggle on the couch.

We are frequently asked if they are hyper?
Russell Terriers like any breed need training structure and routine. Russells are keenly intelligent , and very sensitive. They need jobs , they will turn themselves inside to please you.

Their coats come in three varieties, rough ,broken or smooth . Grooming is relatively simple for the pet owner.  We will guide you though this.

We have had longtime dog fanciers tell us after getting their first Russell, “we have had great dogs in our lives but never a dog so intrinsic as a Russell ". As a word of warning, Russells are like potato chips, you can’t have just one .
So get ready for the most rewarding companion, whether for a large active family, therapy dog, performance, or just your next best friend, a Russell Terrier will fill your heart.

The Russell Terrier is a strong, hardy, earth-working Terrier. He is full of life and moves with confidence that matches his keen expression. The breed's handy size, small flexible chest and fearless nature make it an excellent specimen to work vermin below ground. Its weatherproof coat is predominantly white with tan and/or black markings.

Russell's  remain devoted and loving to its 'people' for its lifetime. Intelligent beyond measure, these happy little dogs love their people, their need to be busy, and throw themselves into any game or job as they a diving into a burrow in hot pursuit of vermon, yet they love to just sit on the couch with you and watch T.V. They master tricks with ease. Russells do best with active, creative people who have a good sense of humor.
